We teamed up with Surfing England to create an identity for the most recent and future national longboard championships.

Our process was to explore the vibe, imagery and competitors of the the event before we put pen to paper/screen! 

The concept and inspirations were block prints, simplicity and deep pastel sunset colours with loose fun & bold typography. 

My first steps were to explore the location (Fistral Beach, Newquay). Looking at landmarks and topography in the area from this I started to build my background print taking the complex headland hotel and landscape to simplify it down to my desired style. 

Once I had the background set I moved to my typography playing with typefaces and positioning I knew we wanted a Logo style of title to this poster so it could be clipped and used in promotions and merchandise. The length of the title produced some difficulty but after some play, we settled on the simple arched fitted text badge.

From here it was all assembly putting together the poster, social posts and title badge variations.

There’s not much that gets me as stoked as seeing surfers at the top of their games getting excited over the event designs I have created and promotions from sponsors like Dryrobe, Decathlon and Korev is crazy!
